YOUTH ITEMS

Exhibits accepted on Saturday 9:00 to 5:00, Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00

Only baked good items will be accepted on Monday 9:00 to 11:00

Exhibitors must stay until all items are checked in.
Winners may turn in placement stickers for ribbons at fair office.


 

1. All items will be entered according to the rules and regulations pertaining to the open classes, including:

a. Canned fruits and vegetables to be judged on quality, general appearance, and container which shall be a standard Mason-type, clear glass qt. or pt. Jar sealed with two-piece self-sealing lid (flat disc and metal screw band). Screw bands may be used in transportation but must be removed before exhibiting. Food not in standard jars or not sealed with self-sealing lids will be disqualified.

b. Jellies, jams and preserves must be in a clear glass jar. Jars should not be sealed with paraffin.

2.  This competition is for any Fulton County Youth under 19 years of age.

3.  Only one entry per class per exhibitor will be entered in this department.

4.  Items shall not be removed until 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, or can be picked up between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Section 17     PINEWOOD DERBY RULES

1. All classes are open to both male and female

2. All cars will be entered to be exhibited all week at the fair

3. All cars will be made from a kit.

4. Exhibitor must bring proof of kit with them when registering.

5. No wheel bearings, washers or bushings shall be used on wheels

6. No modifications will be allowed to wheels

7. Car shall not ride on springs

8. Only wheels and axles that came with kit or official pinewood derby parts are allowed to be used

9. Only dry lubricant is permitted

10. Details such as steering wheels, driver, roll bar, exhaust pipes, and things of such, are permissible as long as it does not cause the car to exceed maximum length, width, or weight.

11. The car must be freewheeling with no starting devices

12. On the day of the race, there will be an official weigh in and tech check of each car entered.

13. The weigh in and tech check will be 1½ hours before the race.

14. Each car must pass inspection of the official inspection committee before they compete.

15. If at the weigh in and tech check, a car does not pass inspection for any reason, the owner will be informed of the reason for failure and will be given  time to correct as long as it is in the official weigh in time.

16. After final approval, the cars will not be re-inspected, unless the car is damaged by handling or in a race.

17. There will be 3 judges on the race committee

18. All decisions of the race judges will be final

19. Car specifications:  width 2¾ inches, length 7 inches, weight not over 5 ounces, width between wheels (distance between front and rear axle) shall not be changed from what the kit was designed, bottom clearance between car and track 3/8 inch

Rules and Regulations – Refer to General Rules

 

1.  Open to all Fulton County Residents.

2.  Limit to four guinea pigs per exhibitor (two per pen). Guinea Pig Show to follow the Rabbit Show.

3. All guinea pigs must be on the fairgrounds by Sat., August 12 at 6 p.m.  Check-ins will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. All animals entered must be in good health and will be inspected upon arrival. The superintendent or committee member must check-in all animals before placing them into a cage. Any animal showing signs of a contagious disease must be removed from the fairgrounds and will be barred from the show.

4. All animals must have a legible ear tag in the left ear. If no tag is present, a number will be assigned and placed in the ear with a permanent marker.

5. All cages must be cleaned at least every day by noon. All pens must be cleaned out by the end of the fair week. Aisles are to be clean and clear at all times.

6.  Guinea pigs will be judged according to the latest Standards of Perfection as per the American Rabbit Cavy Breeders Assoc.

7. Exhibitors are responsible to have their animals to be judging table for the proper class.

8. No animals are allowed to leave the fairgrounds prior to Saturday 10:00 p.m.

9. Rabbit rules will apply to guinea pigs. Guinea pig exhibitors must abide by all general rules for housing that the rabbit exhibitors observe.

10. You must bring your own feed dishes and water bottles.

11. There is a separate entry form for the guinea pigs. You can pick one up at the fair office. You must also complete the livestock entry form in the fair premium book.

Mixed breeds are not allowed except in Pet Class.  If you are not sure what breed you have, obtain a guinea pig breed and variety list from your Extension Office to properly fill our your entry or call the show chairperson or visit www.arba.net.

Section 24       Youth Livestock Skillathon

Sign up two hours prior to each skillathon at Rabbit Building

 

1.        Entries open to any Fulton County youth based on the individual’s age on the Monday of the Fair.

                                Juniors: up to and including age 13

                                Seniors: ages 14 through and including 19

2.        Each youth must complete the skillathon on their own.  There will be no cooperative efforts.

3.        Each youth may compete in any or all of the skillathons. 

4.        There will be premiums for each individual skillathon in both divisions. There will also be an award for the overall high point individual in each division.  The overall high point award will be decided by totaling each individual’s points from each skillathon in which they competed.

A livestock skillathon is a comptetition designed to recognize fundamental knowledge of livestock management practices.  There will be two separate skillathons:

SECTION 28        Costume/Fun Class

Friday, August 19 at 2:00 P.M.

 

1.  Must dress up any animal entered in the fair in a proper, respectable, and well-mannered way. No inappropriate costumes will be accepted.

2.  Exhibitor must dress up as well.

3.  This competition is for any 4-H and Vocational member 21 yrs. old and under.

4.  Enrollment of this class will be held until Thurs., August 17 at 9:00 p.m.
